Mohammed G. Awwad is a Palestinian and Cypriot Citizen Theatre practitioner. His 20 years of work combines Theatre Improvisation, Mime and Drama Education. Awwad comes from the school of Comedy and slapstick comedy where humour involves exaggerated physical activity that exceeds the boundaries of normal physical comedy. He is inspired by Commedia dell’arte and Augosto Boal’s Forum theatre.
Awwad’s experience in Theatre focusses towards bringing up skilful actors and actresses and preparing them for the stage. His approaches involve working with the actors on their roles and characters, while helping the actors to develop their personal traits and perceptions towards themselves.
For the last 20 years, Mohammed has been working with children, young teens and adults on the theatrical skills that qualifies them to stand on stage, and often on silver screen. As a Master graduate of Drama Education and Performing Arts, he joins literacy and performance to bring up performances that appeal to the minds of the audience as much as of the actors.
Mohammed had the chance to work between the three continents of Europe, Asia, and Africa on an academic and professional level, leading to a quality collaborations between theatres and drama schools around the globe.
To help young artists develop their skills as actors and productive citizens, Mohammed Awwad is now based in both Cyprus and Palestine conducting a number of drama programs and academic lectures, in the middle east and Europe e.g Bethlehem University, Leipzig Drama School, Bethlehem College of Social Education, and University of Cyprus.
